Description
Virginia Studies Timeline Cards
These Virginia Studies Timeline Cards include 70 timeline cards, covering important events throughout the Virginia Studies SOLs. Each card names an event and lists the date under the event. These Virginia Studies Timeline Cards are an easy tool to use at the end of a unit or before the SOL test at the end of the year.
What is included with this resource?
There are 70 Virginia Studies timeline cards included in this resource.
Each card has the name of an event followed by a related image. The date is listed below the event. Some dates include the month, day, and year, while other dates only use the year (depending on the event).
The timeline cards are set up so that you can keep the event and date together for a display or separate the two for a matching game.
How can I use these Virginia Studies Timeline Cards?
I have included a list of possible classroom uses within the resource. Some of the ways the timeline cards can be used include:
- classroom décor and bulletin boards
- matching game
- sort
- scavenger hunt
- small group activity
The timeline cards are separated by each Virginia Studies unit so that you can use them at the end of each unit or all together as a Virginia Studies SOL test prep activity.
What standards are the timeline cards aligned to?
These lesson plans are specifically aligned to the Virginia Studies Standards of Learning (SOLs). The resource has been updated and align to the NEW 2023 Virginia Studies SOLs. SOLs VS.3-VS.12 are covered.

Very Detailed!
I have large maps hanging where we’re charting the development of Virginia through time. As we move further on, I have to add/take away some things from the map. This timeline lets me keep the important details in the history of Virginia on display above the map for student reference.

We are building our timeline as a grade level in the hallway. It is clear and easy to follow. The timeline is a great reminder for our students as they prepare for state testing as well as capturing the attention of other grade levels!
