• examine the important contributions, leadership, and experiences of Virginians during the war including, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, George Mason, James Madison, and James Armistead Lafayette
• describe the roles of women, free Blacks, enslaved Blacks, and Indigenous People during the Revolutionary War
• explain how the French and the Marquis de Lafayette helped the Continental Army win the war
• explain the importance of the American victory at Yorktown
• describe the reasons for the relocation of Virginia’s capital from Williamsburg to Richmond
