This Force and Motion Unit includes 7 detailed lesson plans. All lessons are hands-on and incorporate literacy skills. Students will–

• Define and compare Kinetic and potential energy
• Experiment to find that moving objects have kinetic energy
• Explain that motion is described by an object’s speed and direction
• Investigate how changes in motion are related to net force and mass
• Investigate how contact forces transfer energy and change objects’ motion when objects collide
• Show that friction is a force that opposes motion and warms objects up
