Simple Machines Task Cards
Simple Machines Task Cards are a no-prep, fun way to review simple and compound machines.
Simple Machines Task Cards includes 28 task cards, a student response worksheet, and an answer key. Questions are multiple choice, multiple select, and fill-in-the-blank.
What will students review with these task cards?
With these Simple Machines Task Cards, students will:
- Define and identify examples of simple machines (lever, wedge, screw, pulley, inclined plane, and wheel and axle
- Identify simple and compound machines
- Describe the motion of an object
- Describe the forces acting on an object
What standards are covered?
These Simple Machines Task Cards are specifically aligned with the Virginia Science SOL 3.2, although they closely match most science standards related to simple and compound machines.
This unit has been updated to align with the 2018 Science SOLs AND the 2025 Science Instructional Guides.
Is a digital version included?
These Simple Machines Task Cards resource includes BOTH a digital version and a PDF version. The digital version can be accessed through Google Forms and allows students to easily self-check their work. You can also use the Google Forms task cards to track student progress.
When you purchase this product, you will be given access to a link that will allow you to open the file in Google Forms. You’ll then share that file with your students.
What if I want to create my own science task cards?
Four blank task cards are included so that you can create additional questions, if needed. For these task cards, you will print the blank cards and write your questions directly on the cards.
