Description
Force and Motion Slideshow – PowerPoint and Google Slides (VA Science SOL 5.3)
This Force and Motion Slideshow Presentation includes a PowerPoint and Google Slides slideshow presentation aligned to the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs). Present or review information about what force and motion are, kinetic energy, energy transfer when objects collide, and changes in motion related to net force and mass. Then, review the information from the slideshow presentation with an interactive quiz.
Watch the video below to see the entire slideshow presentation.
What will students learn with this Force and Motion Slideshow Presentation?
- What a force is and examples of force.
- What friction is and examples of friction.
- Moving objects have kinetic energy.
- Motion is described by an object’s direction and speed.
- Changes in motion are related to net force and mass.
- When objects collide, they transfer energy and can change the objects’ motion.
What is included with this resource?
This resource includes 22 slides with information about what force and motion are, kinetic energy, energy transfer when objects collide, and changes in motion related to net force and mass. The slides provide definitions, examples, and opportunities for discussion.
A PDF worksheet for students to complete as they go through the presentation. The worksheet allows students to create their own definitions and write examples.
The last 30 slides of the presentation are an interactive, self-checking quiz. The quiz features 10 questions about the information taught in the slideshow presentation. The slides are coded so that students can self-check their answers. If they select the incorrect answer, they are able to go back and try again.
The quiz is also provided in PDF format if you would like students to take the quiz with paper and pencil.
The Force and Motion Slideshow Presentation is provided in BOTH PowerPoint and Google Slides formats. Both versions are the same.
Can the slideshow presentations be edited?
In both the PowerPoint and Google Slides versions, most text can be edited if you want to add or change information. The images are locked and can NOT be changed.
What standards are covered?
This Force and Motion Slideshow Presentation is specifically aligned to the Virginia Science SOL 5.3 although it closely aligns with what force and motion are, kinetic energy, energy transfer when objects collide, and changes in motion related to net force and mass.
This resource has been updated to align with the 2018 Science SOLs AND the 2025 Science Instructional Guides.
