  • How static electricity is generated and examples of static electricity.

What is included with this resource?

This resource includes 24 slides with information about conductors and insulators, simple circuits, open and closed circuits, static electricity, electrical energy transformations, and electromagnets. The slides provide definitions, examples, and opportunities for discussion.

A PDF worksheet for students to complete as they go through the presentation. The worksheet allows students to create their own definitions and write examples.

The last 30 slides of the presentation are an interactive, self-checking quiz. The quiz features 10 questions about the information taught in the slideshow presentation. The slides are coded so that students can self-check their answers. If they select the incorrect answer, they are able to go back and try again.

The quiz is also provided in PDF format if you would like students to take the quiz with paper and pencil.

The Electricity Slideshow Presentation is provided in BOTH PowerPoint and Google Slides formats. Both versions are the same.

Can the slideshow presentations be edited?

In both the PowerPoint and Google Slides versions, most text can be edited if you want to add or change information. The images are locked and can NOT be changed.

What standards are covered?

This Electricity PowerPoint and Google Slides is specifically aligned to the Virginia Science SOL 5.4 although it closely aligns with standards related to conductors and insulators, simple circuits, open and closed circuits, static electricity, electrical energy transformations, and electromagnets.

This resource has been updated to align with the 2018 Science SOLs AND the 2025 Science Instructional Guides.
