Virginia’s Economy Escape Room – Virginia Studies SOL VS.13

Are you looking for a fun way to review Virginia’s products and industries? Look no further! This Virginia’s Economy Escape Room has everything you need! Whether teaching Virginia Studies remotely or in-person, this classroom escape room is easy to set up, and students will have lots of fun reviewing what they have learned!

In this Virginia’s Economy Room, students find themselves trapped! The only way to find a key and escape is for students to successfully complete five challenges.

What will students learn with this classroom escape room?

Topics covered:

• Virginia’s major products and industries and where they are produced
• The impact of the ideas, innovations, and advancements of Virginians on a global market
• Advances in transportation, communications, and technology have led to economic development in Virginia

What escape room activities are included?

Students will complete five challenges. When completing the activities, students will use critical thinking and inference skills. Challenges include activities such as:

• Decoding places on a map of Virginia to learn about Virginia’s major products and industries
• Decoding information about Virginia’s agricultural products
• Identifying true and false facts about Virginia’s economy
• Solving math problems related to Virginia Studies
• Matching terms to their descriptions to create secret codes

Is a digital version included?

This resource includes two versions of the escape room. The first version is a PDF escape room that can be completed in a classroom.

The second version is a digital escape room that can be completed in Google Forms. The digital escape room is self-checking so that students can review the answers to their work even when learning remotely.
