Virginia Studies American Revolution Task Cards are a no-prep, fun way to review the reasons for independence, the Declaration of Independence, roles of Virginians in the Revolutionary War, and Yorktown.

Colonial Virginia Task Cards includes 28 task cards, a student response worksheet, and an answer key. Questions are multiple choice, multiple select, matching, and ordering events.

What will students review with these task cards?

With these Virginia Studies American Revolution Task Cards, students will review:

  • principles and events that convinced the colonists to declare independence
  • the main ideas expressed in the Declaration of Independence
  • the important contributions, leadership, and experiences of Virginians during the war including, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, George Mason, and James Armistead Lafayette
  • the roles of women, free Blacks, enslaved Blacks, and Indigenous People during the Revolutionary War
  • how the French and the Marquis de Lafayette helped the Continental Army win the war
  • the importance of the American victory at Yorktown
  • the reasons for the relocation of Virginia’s capital from Williamsburg to Richmond
