Sources of Energy Review Game – Jeopardy-Style Game
This Sources of Energy Review Game includes a fun, Jeopardy-style game to review renewable energy sources, nonrenewable energy sources, and energy conservation. Versions of the interactive review game are included for both PowerPoint and Google Slides.
What will students review with this Sources of Energy Review Game?
25 questions are included to review and practice the following skills:
- Identify and describe examples of renewable energy sources such as solar power, wind power, hydropower, and geothermal power.
- Identify and describe examples of nonrenewable energy sources such as coal, natural gas, oil, and nuclear power.
- Describe fossil fuels and explain how they can be hazardous to the environment.
- Compare the benefits and limitations of various sources of energy.
- Identify the types of energy used at home and at school to power different devices and equipment.
- Describe ways energy can be conserved at home and at school.
Each question is linked to a slide with the answer so that students can quickly and easily check their answers.
What formats of the game are provided?
This resource includes versions of the Sources of Energy Review Game for BOTH PowerPoint and Google Slides. The questions used with each version are the same.
How is this sources of energy game played?
The PowerPoint version should be played in presentation mode. Category values disappear when they are clicked on. The category values can be reset anytime by exiting the presentation and reopening it. You are able to type scores onto a scoreboard while playing in presentation mode. The presentation has been coded to help you easily navigate from the category board to questions and answers without scrolling.
The Google Slides version should be played in full screen, edit mode. Instructions and a video tutorial are provided that show how this is done. You are able to type scores onto a scoreboard but the category values do not disappear when they are clicked on. This is a limitation of Google Slides. But, markers are provided alongside the category board that you can drag and drop over the category values after they have been used. The presentation has been coded to help you easily navigate from the category board to questions and answers without scrolling.

What science standards are covered?
This Sources of Energy Review Game is specifically created to align with the 2018 Virginia Science SOL 5.9 although the questions closely align with most science standards related to renewable energy sources, nonrenewable energy sources, and energy conservation.
