Description
Sound Task Cards
Sound Task Cards are a no-prep, fun way to review how sounds are formed, sound waves, pitch, and how sound and matter are related.
Sound Task Cards includes 28 task cards, a student response worksheet, and an answer key. Questions are multiple choice, multiple select, fill-in-the-blank, and analyze models/scenarios.
What will students review with these task cards?
With these Sound Task Cards, students will review:
- that sound is a form of mechanical energy produced and transmitted by vibrating matter
- sound (compression) waves
- that sound travels in compression waves and must have a medium through which to travel
- that objects vibrating rapidly have a higher pitch than objects vibrating more slowly
- how sound travels through solids, liquids, and gases
- how musical instruments produce sounds
What standards are covered?
These Sound Task Cards are specifically aligned with the Virginia Science SOL 5.5, although they closely match most science standards related to how sounds are formed, sound waves, pitch, and how sound and matter are related.
This unit has been updated to align with the 2018 Science SOLs AND the 2025 Science Instructional Guides.
Is a digital version included?
These Sound Task Cards resource includes BOTH a digital version and a PDF version. The digital version can be accessed through Google Forms and allows students to easily self-check their work. You can also use the Google Forms task cards to track student progress.
When you purchase this product, you will be given access to a link that will allow you to open the file in Google Forms. You’ll then share that file with your students.
What if I want to create my own science task cards?
Four blank task cards are included so that you can create additional questions, if needed. For these task cards, you will print the blank cards and write your questions directly on the cards.
