## What will students learn through these detailed lesson plans?

12 Detailed lesson plans are included to help students learn and practice the following skills–

• Determine the appropriate unit of measure to use when measuring length in both U.S. Customary and metric units (inch, foot, yard, mile, millimeter, centimeter, meter).
• Estimate and measure length in U.S. Customary and metric units, measuring to the nearest part of an inch (1/2, ¼, 1/8), and to the nearest foot, yard, millimeter, centimeter, or meter and record length using the unit of measure.
• Determine the appropriate unit of measure to use when measuring in both U.S. Customary and metric units (ounce, pound, gram, kilogram).
• Estimate and measure the weight/mass of an object to the nearest U.S. Customary or metric unit.
• Determine the appropriate unit of measure to use when measuring liquid volume in both U.S. Customary and metric units (cup, pint, quart, gallon, milliliter, liter).
• Estimate and measure the liquid volume to the nearest U.S. Customary or metric unit.
• Compare estimates of length, weight/mass, or liquid volume with the actual measurements.
• Given the equivalent measure of one unit, solve problems, including those in context, by determining the equivalent measures within the U.S. Customary system for length, weight/mass, and volume.
