Geometry Task Cards (Math SOL 3.MG.4)
Geometry Task Cards are a great resource for identifying and describing polygons and other geometric terms and concepts. This resource includes 28 task cards, a student response worksheet, and an answer key. Questions are open-ended and multiple choice.
What will students review with these task cards?
With these Geometry Task Cards, students will:
- Classify figures as polygons or not polygons
- Identify and name triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and octagons
- Combine polygons and name the new, resulting polygon
- Subdivide a polygon into no more than three parts and name the resulting polygons
- Classify and compare polygons (triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, octagons)
What standards are covered?
These Geometry Task Cards are specifically aligned to the Virginia Math SOLs 3.MG.4 although they closely align to most math standards related to naming and describing polygons, combining polygons, and subdividing polygons.
Is a digital version included?
This Geometry Task Cards resource includes BOTH a digital version and a PDF version. The digital version can be accessed through Google Forms and allows students to easily self-check their work. You can also use the Google Forms task cards to track student progress.
When you purchase this product, you will be given access to a link that will allow you to open the file in Google Forms. You’ll then share that file with your students.
What if I want to create my own math task cards?
Four blank task cards are included so that you can create additional questions, if needed. For these task cards, you will print the blank cards and write your questions directly on the cards.
Don’t miss out!
Task cards are a great, low-prep way to review at the end of a math unit or before state testing. These Geometry Task Cards can easily be used as part of a math center, Scoot activity, or review game.
These task cards are included in my 3rd Grade Math SOL Task Cards Bundle for a discounted price!

This was a great activity to review before the geometry test. It helped to pinpoint what standard the students were having trouble with.

I am new to Virtual Learning, though not to education. This is my 34th year of teaching, most of those years in third grade. I was running short on time for an assessment to cover 3.11, 3.12, and 3.13 with my virtual students. I found this in time to save me. Instead of spending hours developing my own questions, I was able to use this as the largest part of my assessment. I added a few questions at the end from our practices. The time save was awesome!
