Animal Adaptations Game
This Animal Adaptations Game includes a fun, Jeopardy-style game to review physical and behavioral adaptations, how populations adapt over time, and fossils. Versions of the review game are included for both PowerPoint and Google Slides.
What will students review with this Animal Adaptations Game Review?
25 questions are included in a Jeopardy-style game to review and practice the following skills:
- Differentiate between physical adaptations and behavioral adaptations
- Identify examples of physical adaptations and explain how those adaptations aid in survival
- Identify examples of behavioral adaptations and explain how those adaptations aid in survival
- Explain how specific types of animal adaptations aid survival in various habitats
- Explain how populations may adapt over time in response to changes in the environment
- Use fossils to make inferences about past animals and habitats
Each question is linked to a slide with the answer so that students can quickly and easily check their answers.
What formats of the game are provided?
This resource includes versions of the Animal Adaptations Game Review for BOTH PowerPoint and Google Slides. The questions used with each version are the same.
How is this animal adaptations interactive game played?
The PowerPoint version of this Jeopardy-style game should be played in presentation mode. Category values disappear when they are clicked on. The category values can be reset anytime by exiting the presentation and reopening it. You are able to type scores onto a scoreboard while playing in presentation mode. The presentation has been coded to help you easily navigate from the category board to questions and answers without scrolling.
The Google Slides version of this Jeopardy-style review game should be played in full screen, edit mode. Instructions and a video tutorial are provided that show how this is done. You are able to type scores onto a scoreboard but the category values do not disappear when they are clicked on. This is a limitation of Google Slides. But, markers are provided alongside the category board that you can drag and drop over the category values after they have been used. The presentation has been coded to help you easily navigate from the category board to questions and answers without scrolling.

This Animal Adaptations Game Review is specifically created to align with the 2018 Virginia Science SOL 3.4 although the questions closely align with most science standards related to physical adaptations and behavioral adaptations of animals.
