Affixes Task Cards

Affixes Task Cards are a great resource for practice with prefixes, suffixes, and root words. This resource includes 24 task cards, a student response worksheet, an answer key, and a self-checking version for Google Forms. Questions are open-ended and multiple choice.

What will students review with these task cards?

With these Affixes Task Cards, students will:

• Identify the prefix, suffix, or root word within a word.
• Divide a word into its prefix, root word, and suffix.
• Identify words that use a prefix or suffix that has the same meaning as another word.
• Determine what prefix or suffix should be added to a word to match a given definition.
• Define prefixes and suffixes.
• Complete a sentence with a word that uses the correct prefix or suffix.

What standards are covered?

These Affixes Task Cards are specifically aligned to the Virginia SOLs: 3.4b, 4.4b, and 5.4c.

While they are specifically aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs), they also align to most standards related to prefixes, suffixes, and root words. 

Is a digital version included?

This Affixes Task Cards resource includes BOTH a digital version and a PDF version. The digital version can be accessed through Google Forms and allows students to easily self-check their work. You can also use the Google Forms task cards to track student progress.
