Virginia Studies Escape Rooms Bundle – All VA SOLs!

Each SOL-aligned Virginia Studies Escape Room has a unique theme. In some, they are time-traveling back in time to study Virginia’s past when their time machine malfunctions. In others, they are trapped in a room and must find keys to escape. Whether fixing their time machine or searching for keys, students must successfully complete several challenges related to the Virginia Studies SOLs to “break out” of these classroom escape rooms.

These Virginia Studies Escape Rooms are a great way to engage students and to get them up and moving as they review Virginia’s history, geography, culture, and economics.

What escape room activities are included?

For each classroom escape room, students complete 5-7 activities. When completing the activities, students will use critical thinking and inference skills. Examples of the types of activities students complete include:

• matching terms to their correct definitions
• decoding information using a key
• identifying true statements related to social studies skills and concepts
• solving math problems to create codes
• sorting information into categories
• using maps to answer questions and create codes
• identifying people and events related to Virginia to reveal a code
• examine social studies concepts in real-world scenarios

Is there a digital option?

This bundle includes two versions of each escape room. The first version is a PDF escape room that can be completed in a classroom.

The second version is a digital escape room that can be completed in Google Forms. The digital escape rooms are self-checking so that students can review the answers to their work even when learning remotely.

What standards are covered?

These escape rooms are specifically aligned to the Virginia Studies Standards of Learning (SOLs). All escape rooms have been updated and align to the NEW 2023 Virginia Studies SOLs. All Virginia Studies SOLs are covered in this bundle.
