Virginia Regions Escape Room – VA SOL VS.1

Are you looking for a fun way to review the geography of Virginia? Look no further! This Virginia Regions Escape Room has everything you need! Whether teaching Virginia Studies remotely or in-person, this classroom escape room is easy to set up, and students will have lots of fun reviewing what they have learned!

In this Virginia Regions Escape Room, students find themselves trapped! The only way to escape is for students to successfully complete six challenges that require them to use critical thinking skills as they review Virginia Studies.

What will students learn with this classroom escape room?

Topics covered:

• the location and characteristics of Virginia’s five regions
• major water features (major rivers, bodies of water, Lake Drummond, Dismal Swamp)
• major geographical features (fall line, plateau, peninsula, etc.)
• bordering states

What escape room activities are included?

Students will complete six challenges. When completing the activities, students will use critical thinking and inference skills. Challenges include activities such as:

• Reading information and answering comprehension questions to solve a puzzle
• Decoding places on a map of Virginia to learn about Virginia’s regions, landforms, and water features
• Matching images and descriptions of each Virginia region
• Decoding information about Virginia’s regions and geographical features
• Identifying true and false facts about Virginia’s regions and geographical features
• Matching terms to their descriptions to create secret codes
• Using information about Virginia to solve math problems

Is a digital version included?

This resource includes two versions of the escape room. The first version is a PDF escape room that can be completed in a classroom.

The second version is a digital escape room that can be completed in Google Forms. The digital escape room is self-checking so that students can review the answers to their work even when learning remotely.
