What topics are covered in this American Revolution Unit?

This American Revolution Unit includes 10 detailed lesson plans. All lessons are hands-on and incorporate literacy skills. Students will investigate–

• the causes and effects of the French and Indian War
• the ways the French and Indian War contributed to the American Revolution
• examples of British taxes and the effects of each
• the issues of dissatisfaction that led to the American Revolution
• the political ideas and principles that shaped the revolutionary movement
• the main ideas and effects of the Declaration of Independence
• the impact of individuals on the American Revolution including George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, Thomas Paine, John Adams, the Marquis de Lafayette, Crispus Attucks, Phillis Wheatley, and James Armistead Lafayette
• important events including the Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party, Continental Congress, Battles of Lexington and Concord, Battle of Bunker Hill, Battle of Saratoga, Valley Forge, the Surrender at Yorktown, and the Treaty of Paris
